Campo Azul Tequila's

Campo Azul Tequila, Blanco is one of the select series of Campo Azul products. The Blanco is clear, not the golden color normally recognized and drunk by many as a reposado tequila. This tequila is 100% agave tequila made from Weber Blue Agave plants that are within Campo Azul's own plantations to insure quality and production. These plantations are located in the Los Alto de Jalisco region. The alcohol level is 80 proof. Formally this tequila type is known as "white."

Campo Azul Tequila is created by first baking the agave plant 24 hours and then it "rests" for another 24 hours (basically it cools).  Modern methods of cooking the plant is to use steam pressure cookers, which eliminates 7 of the cooking hours.  The plant is then shredded and fermented, Next it is tested for contaminants at a University research center. Campo Azul Tequila Blanco is aged in white oak barrels inside a cellar built underground.

The History of Tequila

Tequila was first made in the 16th century near the the city of Tequila, officially established in 1656. The Aztecs had already created a beverage from the agave plant, which was called by them “octli”, long before the Spanish arrived in 1521, who then began to distill this agave drink to produce North America's first indigenous distilled spirit.

Tequila was already being mass-produced in the modern state of Jalisco around 1600.

Los Altos de Jalisio

Produced in the Los Altos de Jalisio region of Mexico, in English: The Highlands of Jalisco , to this day is considered a major European community throughout the centuries, since its colonization during the Spanish colonial rule. Founded in 1530 by Captain Pedro Almíndez y Chirinos, a Spanish conqueror who led the expedition. The absence of mixing with Amerindians is due to the reoccurring wars between the Europeans and Natives. These continuous battles had reduced the Native population enough so that the Europeans could easily settled and establish a colony. Many White Mexicans from Jalisco and the surrounding states can usually trace their lineage to these first European families who settled the area between 1541-1602
